Every angle, every ghost, every drop shot examined through the lens of classical technique and old-money restraint. The Squash Canon is our foundational volume — the book we wish we had been handed on our first evening at the club. It is unhurried, opinionated, and quietly rigorous: less a manual of tricks than a way of thinking about the four walls, the T, and the long game that plays out between them.
Squash is taught, for the most part, in fragments — a tip here, a drill there, a coach’s pet phrase overheard on court. We wanted to set down the whole of it in one considered volume: the geometry, the shots, the movement, and the temperament, arranged as a canon rather than a grab-bag.
What emerged is the book we would have pressed into our own hands twenty years ago. It flatters no shortcut and promises no overnight transformation. It simply lays out the craft, plainly and in order, and trusts the reader to do the rest.
— The founders, Nick & Tin
I have read a shelf of squash instruction and this is the first that reads like a book rather than a pamphlet. The chapter on length alone reorganised my whole game.
Elegantly written and genuinely useful. I’d have liked a few more drills, but the thinking behind each shot is worth ten times the modest price.
Read it in a single evening; I shall reread it for years.
